精听英语第二期线上英语角话题探讨:H&M抵制新疆棉花,你怎么看?

Recently, Swedish clothing retailer H&M stirred fierce backlash from Chinese netizens, The fashion retailer said it was “deeply concerned by reports from civil society organisations and media that include accusations of forced labour” in Xinjiang, The company said it did not source products from there. The Chinese netizens were furious saying “H&M and its allies are back-stabbers” after resurfaced comments, reportedly from last year.

最近,瑞士服装零售巨头H&M引起了中国网民的强烈不满,这家时装零售商曾于去年10月份发表公开声明,说道:“他们对一些社会组织及媒体对于在新疆发生的强制劳工事件非常顾虑”,并声明该公司不打算从新疆采购棉花。中国网友非常恼火,看过报道的都说:H&M及其同盟是“白眼狼”。

The controversy follows a similar backlash against Global sportsware brands Nike and Adidas, the brands pledged to not source cotton from Xinjiang and they share a common NGO Organization by the name of BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) as well as the same stance with H&M.

其后,这件事情开始持续发酵,像Nike与Adidas这类运动服饰及鞋类品牌也遭受到了中国网民抵制,因为他们与H&M都隶属于一个名叫BIC的组织,而且与其持有同样立场。

新疆棉花遭H&M抵制

A hashtag “I support Xinjing cotton”on weibo has chalked up more than 6 billion views. Apparently one of the hashtag named “the Chinese market does not welcome malicious back-stabbers” has become a trending topic, it seems like a tailor-maid slogan for H&M and brands alike. Now H&M disappeared from major Chinese shopping sites and mapping apps after the controversy went rival.

微博上有一个热闹标签“我支持新疆棉花”阅读量突破了60亿次,其中有一个话题标签”中国市场不欢迎恶语中伤者”像是一个口号,显然是专门为H&M和此类公司量身定制的。自从H&M去年的一份关于“拒绝使用新疆棉花”的声明被重新曝光之后,目前该公司的相关产品已经被各大商店下架,其标识也被各大地图软件及导航APP摘除。
